Jackson has a public and commercial law practice, including constitutional law, administrative law, statutory construction and general commercial law. He has particular expertise in parliamentary law. In 2022, he was Counsel Assisting the Inquiry into the Appointment of the Former Prime Minister to Administer Multiple Departments, led by the Hon Virginia Bell AC. Before coming to the Bar, Jackson was Counsel Assisting the Solicitor-General of the Commonwealth (Dr Stephen Donaghue KC, now Justice Donaghue) and an Associate at the High Court and the Federal Court. Jackson holds a Bachelor of Civil Law (Distinction) from the University of Oxford, where he studied on the Peter Cameron Sydney-Oxford Scholarship. He graduated from the University of Sydney with First Class Honours in Law. In 2024-2025, Jackson lectured in Advanced Statutory Interpretation at the University of New South Wales. He has previously taught constitutional law and public law at the Australian National University. He is also a reporter for the New South Wales Law Reports. Jackson is currently a Councillor of the New South Wales Bar Association, a member of a Professional Conduct Committee, and a member of the Diversity and Equality Committee.
