Jeremy acts in the full range of areas of law that affect insurance companies. Primarily those areas are the interpretation and application of contracts and legislation, negligence, breach of contract, breach of statutory obligations, breach of the duty of good faith, breach of fiduciary duties, and administrative law. Jeremy advises on whether a given insurance policy responds to a given claim. He resolves cases at mediation or conducts the defence of claims at trial and on appeal. His work includes witness conferencing, advising, drafting, assisting with the preparation of expert reports, facilitating expert conclaves, preparing experts’ joint reports, and running interlocutory applications. Outside of the insurance arena, Jeremy acts in general commercial law matters. He successfully defended a contract claim in the NSW Court of Appeal unled against Senior Counsel, Ye v Chen. He has acted in defamation matters. He appeared in Covid-19 vaccination administrative law litigation that proceeded to the Full Court of the Federal Court of Australia. In NSW, Jeremy has conducted hearings in the Supreme Court, District Court, Local Court and Workers Compensation Commission as well as appeals in the Court of Appeal, led and unled. In the Federal jurisdiction, Jeremy has defended complaints to the Superannuation Complaints Tribunal and the Australian Financial Complaints Authority and appeared in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal. He has been led on appeals from decisions made in those forums on questions of law to the Federal Court. He has run litigation in the Federal Circuit and Family Court. He acted for an insurer with respect to a Royal Commission. Jeremy studied the landscape of PFAS (Pre- and poly-Fluoroalkyl Substances) Class Action litigation in Australia in 2026.
