Professional Summary

Declan appears in a variety of courts and tribunals. Declan has a diverse practice which includes regulatory proceedings, commercial law, class actions, administrative law, defamation law, and family law. He has particular expertise in competition law, in which he is regarded as one of Australia’s leading barristers. In this field he regularly advises and acts for both private clients and the ACCC, and has appeared in many of the significant cases in recent years. Before being called to the bar, Declan was a lecturer in law at the London School of Economics, and obtained his PhD in law from the Australian National University. He is also the author of a book, ‘Accountability in Restorative Justice’, published by Oxford University Press, which was awarded the British Society of Criminology book prize in 2004.
