Alexander Edwards acts in complex litigation in the Federal Court and State Supreme Courts. He has extensive experience in the conduct of representative proceedings (class actions). Alexander specialises in class actions involving racial and sexual discrimination, First Nations claims, environmental issues, natural disasters, securities litigation and other mass and novel torts. He also accepts briefs in media, defamation and diverse commercial litigation matters. Present class actions of note in which he is instructed included Stolen Wages Western Australia (Street v State of WA), Stolen Wages Northern Territory (McDonald v Commonwealth), NSW Festivals Strip Searches (Meredith v State of NSW) and Crowley v WorleyParsons. Past cases include Stolen Wages Qld (Pearson v State of Queensland), Stolen Generations NT (Cummings/Ellis v Commonwealth), and numerous securities and bushfire class actions. Prior to coming to the bar, he worked as a solicitor at a top-tier commercial firm and as a tipstaff to their Honours Campbell JA (in the Court of Appeal) and R A Hulme J (in the Common Law Division) in the New South Wales Supreme Court.
